Coprodeli Mission
Coprodeli USA aids Peruvian families by providing for fundamental needs, promoting education and job training, and developing strong self-sustaining community programs. Volunteers from the U.S. , Europe, Latin America, and from among the disadvantaged people of Peru provide hope and vital services to those in need.
Coprodeli has 70 programs that serve more than 50,000 people in some of the most impoverished communities in Peru . Coprodeli's programs include humanitarian aid, preventative healthcare, education, fair commerce, employment development, pastoral care, housing, drug prevention, and extensive outreach to homeless and orphaned children.
Coprodeli History
More than 54 percent of all Peruvians live below the poverty line and many Peruvian families live without the basic necessities of life such as running water, electricity, nourishment, and education. Many families earn less than $1 a day and cannot support themselves or their children. Of the 3.8 million people who live in extreme poverty, more than 2.1 million are children. Chronic hunger affects thousands of children daily, forcing nearly 2 million children to go to work at an early age. This means forgoing education and the chance to break the cycle of poverty. Padre Miguel Ranera, a Spanish missionary priest, saw these conditions and set out to find community-based remedies. Coprodeli works to not only help those in immediate need but also to combat the root causes of poverty. Education and economic development combine to create lasting, positive change.
