Letter Writing Policy 

 

The mail system in Peru - especially in marginalized areas - is incredibly unreliable. Though we understand that it is more ideal to send a hand-written letter, we have learned over time that this often creates some hang-ups in getting the letter to the child.

 

Process:   

To communicate with your sponsored child, we suggest writing to him or her via an email to padrinos@coprodeliusa.org or attaching a handwritten note or photo to this email. Since most of our school children do not have computers or internet access at home, we have them communicate with sponsors while at school. Our program coordinators will facilitate the communication between you and the child, so as not to overwhelm our field staff and school directors with incoming letters.

 

Timing:

As a general rule of thumb, getting an email to a child can take around 4 weeks - 2 weeks to have your response delivered to your sponsored child, and 2 weeks to have your sponsored child’s reply delivered to you.
