Organization Description:

COPRODELI USA is a non-profit organization that aids Peruvian families by supporting, through annual financial and volunteer assistance, the grassroots development work carried out by the NGO, COPRODELI Peru.

 

COPRODELI Peru is an international development organization dedicated to serving the poorest areas of Peru by building sustainable programs in education, health, housing, job training, micro-entrepreneurship and food security since 1989.  Driven by principles of economic and social inclusion, the organization sees to the needs of marginalized communities in Callao, Pachacutec, Ica, and San Martin and carries out social development projects benefiting 110,000 people each year.  Coprodeli has not only been successful in responding to the basic needs of thousands of families, but also in empowering beneficiaries as participants in program efforts.

 

Position Description:

The Coprodeli USA Program Director is vital to both Coprodeli USA and Coprodeli Peru, overseeing all Coprodeli USA program and project management in coordination with Peru program directors, Coprodeli USA board members, and donors. The US Programs Director is a dynamic individual that is excited to engage with a range of stakeholders and looking to play a critical role in an organization that stands out.  The position is based in Peru, but coordination and communication with the US Board, volunteers, & donors is expected to be maintained remotely on a regular (daily) basis.

 

This person is responsible for:  

 

  • Strategic planning, evaluation & internal communications:

    • Co-creates (with support / guidance / input from the Board) and monitors annual strategic action plan for all Coprodeli USA activities (volunteer trips, in-kind donations, privately funded projects, board meetings, monthly newsletter, and intern activities).

    • Performs regular strategic analyses on organizational programs, processes, systems and provides frequent updates and communications to the Board.

    • Coordinates with Peru and US administration to keep all parties informed and updated, often times collecting input and guidance before execution.
       

  • Operations & Administrative functions

    • Responsible for completion of all financial and operational requirements.

    • Supports book-keeping efforts (e.g., QuickBooks) by providing context and information on donors / donations; supports Coprodeli Peru and US by providing inputs to the annual operating budget.

    • Ensures all donations are received, properly directed, accounted for, and transferred to Coprodeli Peru. Ensures all payments are made on time.

    • Coordinates logistics for humanitarian aid donations (approximately 5 food and shoe shipments annually).

    • Oversees maintenance of the organization’s website and social media outlets (content, timing, posts, network development).

    • Intern management:

      • Oversees recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of all interns

      • Oversees all their strategic plan, workload, job functions, analyses, and reviews

 

  • Program management:

    • Strategic Partnerships

      • Maintains current strategic partnerships (correspondence with donor, coordination with Coprodeli Peru program staff, reporting) and identifies new opportunities for growth and development.

      • Forms new strategic partnerships (through targeted research, networking, proposal development, and project communication / marketing).

    • Padrino Child Sponsorships

      • Maintains sponsorships (supports database management, provides financial oversight and subscription payments, and facilitates regular communication with sponsors and field staff)

      • Increases sponsorships (recruiting, enrollment, child assignment)

    • Outreach

      • Oversees strategy and all external communications and marketing initiatives to increase visibility and keep supporters engaged.

      • Works with board to validate initiatives; manages interns and provides support / guidance to ensure execution of a consistent and targeted message.

    • Volunteering & sponsor visits:

      • Short-term: Orients and organizes activities for visitors; donors; individual & corporate volunteers.

      • Long-term: Recruits and orients volunteers that will be with Coprodeli longer than 4 months for a variety of functions.
         

  • U.S. based Project Management – oversight of US funded projects

    • Carries out planning, formulation, execution, reporting and monitoring in coordination with Coprodeli and partner project teams

    • Handles all grant applications, project proposals, meetings, and reporting as required by funder

    • Ensures Board is well informed, included in high level communications, and made aware of any issues / concerns as they arise

    • Address any questions that might arise from partners in a timely manner

    • Coordinates site visits (to Peru or to the organization) as they are requested

 

Location & Compensation

The US Program Director is based in our Coprodeli Peru office in Callao, Peru and occasionally travels to our regional sites for project formulation and management functions, as well as to the US 1-2 times per year.  Compensation is competitive with that of small Peruvian non-profits, commensurate with experience. Work hours Monday thru Friday 9am to 6pm, Peruvian Holidays off. 

 

Requirements

  • Sound experience and/or education in business administration & financial management functions.

  • 1+ year of prior development-related work experience in developing countries with varied stakeholder engagement and program/project cycle management.

  • Completed undergraduate study in: International Development, Business Administration, Economics, Public Policy,  International Relations, Political Science, Latin American Studies, or other related field.

  • Strives in highly independent and autonomous environment, able to keep deadlines and commitments.

  • Excellent communication (particularly writing), organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Detail-oriented with creative and collaborative perspective.

  • Fluency in Spanish and English required.

  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially MSWord/MSExcel/MSAccess; experience with CRM platforms.

  • Ability to commit to living in Peru and working with Coprodeli for > 1.75 years.
